Walk + Roll Events

We hold Walk + Roll events throughout the year to encourage walking and rolling to school. Rolling means using any device that has wheels but doesn’t have a motor—such as a bicycle, a scooter, a skateboard, rollerblades, roller skates, or a wheelchair—for transportation.

Our Walk + Roll events include:

  • Walking Buses

    • Walking School Buses: A walking bus is a group of students, family members, school staff, and community leaders that walk together along a route to school.

    • This alleviates car congestion in school zones. Students can practice pedestrian safety tools and skills.

  • International Walk + Roll to School Day

    • The first Wednesday in October

  • Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

    • November 14th

    • A day of dialogue to continue the fight against racism and bullying. Creating a space for educational inclusivity.

    • A day to commemorate Ruby Bridges and her impact on U.S. Civil Rights History.

  • Winter Walk + Roll to School Day
